Out and About

Even the people born and raised in Idaho will admit we are having a “real winter” this year. And this long, hard, winter is starting to wear on all of us. Georgie has gotten worse and worse in the indoor arena and I can’t say I blame her. We haven’t ridden outside since before Thanksgiving. So, the other day I decided to get out and about for a hack around the property. The ice has melted, and while it will be a while before the snow is gone, the sun was shining and it was a perfect day to be outside.

I had kinda forgotten how beautiful it was here.

Even Georgie enjoys the view

And how much wildlife there is….

What’s that you see Georgie???

Oh, just a herd of elk….

Maybe they are headed out to hang out with their friend…

The moose. Sorry for the crappy photo, the light was not good. I promise it is a moose

And if you have other ideas about “wild life,” we also had skijoring this weekend. What’s skijoring you ask?

It’s this insanity….

People tow skiers down a course. On horseback. Skiers go through gates and collect rings and horses go as fast as they can. Fastest time with fewest penalties wins. Georgie did not participate, but my friend Meg and her brother did with her adorable QH Laddy!

Even Stella got to enjoy the beauty tonight, even though we got out of work kinda late…

So, while the snow is taking it’s time to go away, and I am insanely jealous of those of you in say, Texas, Maryland, North Carolina or California because you can ride outside and actually think about attending events in your area, in the end,  I’m really really lucky to live here.

I like watching winter happen to other people. It’s pretty, as long as it’s not me.

It’s gorgeous! Absolutely love it. But yeah, after months and months of snow, a bit of green grass will do no harm 😉

beautiful photographs! jealous of all your wildlife too! we get a nice little variety here – but emphasis on the little. think: deer, foxes, rabbits (tho not this time of year) and many beautiful (but small) birds of prey.
